These days everyone wants to travel to as many countries as they can, as fast as possible. They want to fill up those passport pages with exotic stamps and awesome shots on their Instagram pages. But if you enjoyed yourself in a particular location, chances are you will enjoy yourself again, so why not repeat?
There is a trend for repeat travel. Bucket lists are disappearing. You take that once-in-a-lifetime- trip, and before you know it, you’re booking a trip to go back. But how about this time experiencing it differently. Instead of Island Hopping in Greece, take a cruise that centers around travelers learning the history of archeology, and the gods. You can rediscover a place you’ve already been to differently and excitingly.
So, here are some of my reasons why you should appreciate and engage in repeat travel.
1. You Know It’s A Great Place To Visit
So, who do you believe? Your own experience or reviews on Trip Advisor? You, of course. The next will increase your knowledge of what routes to take, and what you consider to be the best restaurants in the area. You feel good that you have learned about the city better and be more open to exploring and finding that hidden gem.
2. What Bucket List?
You probably checked everything off your bucket list the last time. Now you can control your list and not have it control you.
3. You Already Like It
When you visit a city and determine you like it; you are more comfortable visiting again. There are no anxiety’s on whether you will have a wonderful time. You understand the country’s visa & customs policy and have had a taste of public transportation. It’s not as intimidating so you can now focus on more important things like which new and fabulous restaurants you want to visit this time.
4. Everything Gets Easier
Returning back to a location that you know you love makes repeat travel easy. The discoveries you made during your first visit ensure that you will have a good time. There is also a feeling of comfort and safety when you return to a familiar place. It’s a sure thing. Visit, have fun, and repeat.
5. You May Start To Feel Like A Local
When you visit a city for the first time, you kind of stick out. The camera around your neck, the guidebook you have in hand, and of course that lost look. Repeat travel makes everything more comfortable and less confusing. This time you will feel more comfortable and blend in with the locals.
6. Different Time of The Year; New Season
Did you visit in the summer and the weather was less than desirable? Was the weather so muggy that you didn’t even want to venture outside? Well switch up what season you visit and that just may be a better fit.
7. Less Pressure To Hit Up Tourist Spots
No need to go to the overpopulated tourist sites, because you’ve seen them already. You have the Instagram photo’s to prove it. Relieve yourself of that pressure and visit restaurants, local markets, and shopping areas that the locals patronize. You might find a hidden gem in your adventures.
8. Who Wants To Waste Time?
You’re a repeat traveler. You purchased all the souvenirs and t-shirts the first time. You know some of the great experiences, and you can determine if you want to repeat them or find something new to experience. How about taking in a little nightlife with the locals.
9. See Things You Missed The Last Time
Some cities are so large that on a first visit you don’t have time to absorb everything. This time visit some of the sites you weren’t able to see the last time.
10. Why Not?
We have things we repeat in our daily lives, so why not repeat travel to a location you love and like spending time in? You never know, you may consider that you love it so much, you want to live there.
