CityMaps2Go
You can customize your offline maps with City Map Go. CityMaps2Go lets you customize offline maps with points of interest. You can also see your location on the map, whether you are using data or Wi-Fi. With the app, travelers can access thousands of offline maps without paying international data charges.
Lists can be created for your trip (dining, bars, attractions, etc.), and your map will show where you add them. You can add notes and review scores to each card, along with nearby accommodations.
Rome2rio
Imagining all the cool places you’ll visit is the best part of trip planning. Do you know what’s not so fun? The logistics of getting there. Fortunately, that’s where Rome2rio comes in. (iOS | Android) If you love picturing all the awesome locations to visit and things to do when you’re a trip planner, there are planes, trains, subways, buses, ferries, taxis, and Ubers available to get from point A to point B.
This app shows you your options, including travel time and estimated cost, whether you’re getting between two cities or countries. The app can’t book flights or buy tickets because it’s a planning tool.

TripIt
TripIt (iOS | Android) There’s a reason Tripit makes “best travel apps” lists. By syncing with your phone’s calendar and sharing with friends and family, your inbox becomes a master itinerary. The app will take care of the heavy lifting for you. You can forward confirmation emails to plans@tripit.com.
You can find alternate flights with TripIt Pro ($49/year) and get flight alerts in real-time if your original plans get thrown off.
Culture Trip
The app arm of Culture Trip (iOS | Android) The Culture Trip app offers travelers off-the-beaten-path options in popular destinations (tagline: “For curious travelers”). Reviews from locals let you plan your trip from a local’s perspective for more than 200 destinations around the world.
Say you’re traveling to Greece; The Culture Trip app may use an article on Mykonos’ Top 9 Restaurants as a starting point. Throughout the article, you can create lists and see maps of places you’ve saved. Food & Drink, Music, Guides & Tips are also options.
Inspirock
With Inspirock, users can explore and plan sightseeing itineraries quickly and easily by leveraging local expertise and artificial intelligence. You can use the search bot to find the best times, places, and transportation.
If you’re doing a multi-city itinerary, it recommends how much time to spend in each city/country, suggests nearby attractions, and is fully customizable. Artificial intelligence optimizes your itinerary.
TripScout
TripScout (iOS) is a travel guide that combines articles and videos from well-known travel publications with local experts for a personalized, always-up-to-date experience. By mapping every point of interest mentioned in the content, you can build an itinerary displaying your intended destinations.
Furthermore, TripScout can narrow down recommendations based on your travel dates, budget, interests, and group size. Like some of the other apps on this list, TripScout works offline, so you won’t have to pay for international data. There’s only an iOS version of TripScout. Sorry!
TripAdvisor
TripAdvisor (iOS | Android), With TripAdvisor, you’ll find hidden gems, restaurants, hotels, and vacation rentals all over the world, unlike other apps. Using the new Trips feature, you can save places you’re interested in and create custom itineraries. Share or keep your trips private; it’s up to you.
The app lets you search for cities and see reviews, pictures, videos, and articles from other users that use the app. For in-depth trip planning advice, check out TripAdvisor’s forums.
