You can customize your offline maps with City Map Go. CityMaps2Go lets you customize offline maps with points of interest. You can also see your location on the map, whether you are using data or Wi-Fi. With the app, travelers can access thousands of offline maps without paying international data charges.

This app shows you your options, including travel time and estimated cost, whether you’re getting between two cities or countries. The app can’t book flights or buy tickets because it’s a planning tool.

TripIt

TripIt (iOS | Android) There’s a reason Tripit makes “best travel apps” lists. By syncing with your phone’s calendar and sharing with friends and family, your inbox becomes a master itinerary. The app will take care of the heavy lifting for you. You can forward confirmation emails to plans@tripit.com. 

You can find alternate flights with TripIt Pro ($49/year) and get flight alerts in real-time if your original plans get thrown off.

TripAdvisor (iOS | Android), With TripAdvisor, you’ll find hidden gems, restaurants, hotels, and vacation rentals all over the world, unlike other apps. Using the new Trips feature, you can save places you’re interested in and create custom itineraries. Share or keep your trips private; it’s up to you.
