It’s not uncommon for airlines to have a dress code, and there are a few guidelines you should follow. Or, more specifically, what not to wear on a plane. Cleanliness, comfort, and convenience are all reasons for these rules. Moreover, the fine print in your airline’s contract of carriage says you’ve got to follow some rules, or else you’ll get kicked off. Check out this list of what not to wear on a plane before your next trip.
Footwear With Open-Toes
Traveling to a warm-weather destination might tempt you to wear open-toed shoes. I mean, you get off the plane, and you’re supposed to fit right in, right? Don’t think for a minute that the carpet on a plane is deep-cleaned regularly. Final note: PLEASE wear your shoes in the restroom. I can’t tell you the number of times I see people go into the bathroom with just a pair of socks on or worse, no socks at all. Ugh! That liquid on the floor is not just water. IJS
Offensive Clothing
The fine print in airlines comes into play here. Wearing offensive clothes can be grounds for refusal. It’s usually profanity or general lewdness, though the language is vague. There might be a change of clothing policy depending on the airline. The airline may kick you off if you refuse.
Layers, Layers, Layers
It’s always a good idea to prepare for all scenarios when flying because you never know what the weather will be like. I don’t recommend wearing a single layer – like a tank top or thick sweater. Dress in layers, be prepared for cold temperatures and remove layers if you get hot.

Jewelry Made of Bulky Metal
If you’re traveling, leave your bulky metal jewelry at home. Accessories are fun for a night out on the town, but keep them in your carry-on. It’ll probably have to come off when you go through airport security, which is a pain. FYI: Never check anything of value; keep it with you in your carry-on.

Perfume or Fragrances in General
Don’t wear anything too strong that might irritate your fellow passengers. Airplane cabins are enclosed, so your favorite fragrance can be overwhelming for others.
