Our favorite way to research and save on flights is using Google Flights. There is data and information that will assist you in making the most cost-efficient decision.
Take advantage of these 5 Google Flight Hacks to save when booking your next flight:
Incognito Mode
Use incognito mode to avoid your search history and cookies affecting Google Flight prices. Airlines can track your activity online with cookies and raise your flight’s price. If you don’t search in incognito then clear your cookies/cache. Another option is to use a VPN (Virtual Private Network)
Search Destinations Versus Airports
Try searching for your favorite destination instead of an airport to find the cheapest airports to fly into or out of. Instead of picking a destination put ‘anywhere’ in the location and click search. Google Flights will show you locations throughout the world and you can pick a location based on the price of your flight and build the remainder of your vacation around your flight. You can just zoom out to see more destinations.
If you do choose a specific destination, then just use the location versus using the airport code. In our example we chose Paris. The most cost-efficient airport to fly to was Paris-Orly Airport (ORY)
Consider a Regional Airport
Consider flying to a nearby regional airport instead of a major airport. Flights to regional airports can sometimes be less expensive. Keep in mind the distance from that airport to your final destination and compare the costs.

Use The Calendar & Date Grid
Based on the calendar and date grid, you can find the cheapest days to fly.
Take Advantage of the “Price Box”
Use the Price Box to find out when flights are cheapest, what the average flight price is, and where you can find a great deal. Set up Google Flight price alerts to know when prices drop for your desired destinations. Click here to learn how to set up price alerts

Bonus Tip
VPNs let you shop from any virtual location in the world. Because you can browse different markets, you may get better price options for flights. You can watch a recording of the entire process here and learn the difference between booking with an OTA (Online Travel Agency) and directly with the airline.
