Your browser uses cookies to track internet usage, so they know what websites you visit. This can be a major disadvantage if you keep looking for the same flights.
Companies use these cookies to know what you are looking to buy, so they raise the price every time. Incognito or private browsing is your best friend. Save money by using them.
VPNs
VPNs are another way to save; a VPN is a virtual private network. VPNs let you shop from any virtual location in the world. Because you can browse different markets, you may get better flight price options. Additionally, it keeps your browsing private so travel sites can’t track your data and raise prices based on your browsing habits.
Using public Wifi with a VPN is also a great idea. I definitely use a VPN during my international travels. Public Wifi has risks. Whether at a coffee shop, airport, or supermarket, you’ll need a VPN to protect your data. What are the security benefits, and how does it work? Let’s take a closer look.

How a VPN Protects You
When you connect to public networks, a VPN protects your internet traffic by encrypting your online connections and data The encryption makes it impossible to see what you are doing. Also, I turn it on when I use public Wifi.

Here is my last tidbit of information about using a VPN while traveling. Sometimes I need what I call ‘White Noise’ in the background in my room. I don’t want to listen to ‘White Noise’ in a different language. #LOL #Don’tJudgeMe. I need my white noise in English. There are United States-based entertainment apps that won’t connect in other countries. Example… DirectTV. Once I activate my VPN virtually in the United States, I can use the app to watch television. Sometimes, I use my DirectTV app to watch television in my room. I just bring an HDMI cord and an Adapter to attach to my iPad, MAC, or iPhone. This allows me to watch television or OnDemand TV while I’m in the hotel room. I can also watch television on my devices when I’m sitting in one of the airport lounges.
If you have a credit monitoring system, check to see if they offer a VPN service. I use AURA and they do provide a free VPN service called HotSpot. HotSpot will allow you to link up 5 devices to a free and premium account and a premium family that allows you to create 5 member accounts.
My go-to VPN service is called IPVanish. You can see what country you’re surfing in on the app’s homepage. You can choose the country you’d like to surf from on the location tab. On the settings page, you can choose whether to connect on demand and what protocol to use. You can get help setting it up from their customer service thru the app or their website.
